Greater Lansing -- birthplace of the Oldsmobile, now belonging to the ages -- still rolls with shopping options at malls, shops, and markets. Within walking distance of the state capitol, diverse restaurants, delis and nightspots define downtown. Capital Pharmacy on Washington Square, a few doors north of the Peanut Shop, either has it or will try to get it by tomorrow. On Washington Street, Kositchek's, selling quality menswear since 1865, offers free valet parking at the Radisson Hotel. Fabiano's Homemade Candies, with three locations including on Michigan Avenue near the hospital, has been family-owned and operated since 1924. On Cedar Street and established in 1909, Lansing City Market offers Michigan's freshest produce and flowers. Relish, on Grand River Avenue, stocks specialty gourmet items from vinegars to coffee and tea. Downtown East Lansing, with Michigan State University as a backdrop, features an eclectic mix of restaurants, entertainment, art galleries and retail, including the Archives Bookshop and Flat, Black & Circular, for used records, etc. Old Town, encompassing Lansing's original settlement and connected to downtown via the River Trail along the Grand, includes ice cream shops, galleries, restaurants, antique shops and specialty stores.

The outdoor Eastwood Towne Center features upscale fashion retailers such as Coldwater Creek and Banana Republic, home furnishings specialists such as Pottery Barn, and dining options including PF Chang's China Bistro. The regional Meridian Mall has more than 120 stores and restaurants, plus a six-screen theater. Lansing Mall, renovated with its new streetscape design, with shops from Hot Topic to Wet Seal. Mega Mall, one of mid-Michigan's largest antique and collectible stores has more than 300 booths. Downtown DeWitt features boutiques, antiques, dining, and day spas. A Saturday Farmer's Market runs seasonally until noon. Downtown Grand Ledge, on banks of the Grand River, features specialty shops, antiques, dining, day-spas, and boat rides. Downtown Mason has shops and restaurants surrounding the Ingham County Courthouse. Downtown Williamston, with its Antiques District and Cobblestone Village, also has dining, and a historic museum in the Depot Building. Tanger Outlet Center Kensington Valley has more than 80 name brand stores.
